Between November 15 to December 15 each year, small businesses with 1 to 50 employees can apply for a Fully Insured group health insurance plan without needing to meet carrier participation and contribution requirements.
Who does this benefit?

Employees who do not qualify for a tax credit through the Marketplace

Employees who qualify for a tax credit through the Markertplace

Employers who are able to satisfy minimum contribution requirements but are not able to satisfy participation requirements

Employers who are able to satisfy participation requirements but are not able to satisfy contribution requirements
CARRIERS
Small Business Coverage Eligibility Guidelines

Husband and Wife employer groups with no W2 employees (non spousal) are only eligible for coverage when the business is a LLC Partnership that files Partnership Tax Returns.
Sole Proprietors are only eligible for coverage if there are part-time or full-time employees.
​
All full time W2 employees are eligible for coverage and must be offered insurance.
